Lingayen- - -Another Pangasinense youth by the name of Najiva Maiquez has added another cap to the province’s list of achievements this 2015 after bagging the championship title in the National Festival of Talents (PopEd On-the-Spot Jingle Writing and Singing Contest held at Atrium Hotel in Pasay City last April 8 to 11.
Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. expressed elation over the recent feat as he commended Maiquez for bringing honor to the province even as he said that such undertaking proves how Pangasinenses work hard to elevate the province onto greater heights.
In a letter sent to the governor by Virgibal S. Vallo, teacher-coach of Calasiao Comprehensive Hational High School (CCNHS), utmost appreciation was given to the governor for the support he has given to the young champion artist.
This, according to Vallo, has made Maiquez more inspired in defending the name of the province amid the national competition where several other youth artists attempted to notch the title.
Maiquez is a Grade IX student of CCNHS under Special Program for Arts (SPA) section.
The National Festival of Talents, a program launched three years ago by the Department of Education (DepEd), is designed to give talented students an avenue to showcase and highlight their artistic inclinations.
Gov. Espino earlier said that youth development is among the priorities of the present administration. Thus, he disclosed, full support is given to the youth sector that endeavors to shine in different fields of endeavor. /RBernardino
