Dagupan starts audition for member of youth orchestra

DAGUPAN CITY – The office of City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez is conducting audition for possible members of  the first Dagupan Youth Orchestra  for youth aged  9 to 15 years who all must have deep interest in music.

Music Consultant Pong Mendoza, a member of the Philippine Harmonic Orchestra, said the audition will be done  every Monday at the Child Minding Center at city hall  from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
.
“The mayor said the  audition is open to all residents of Dagupan  who have the talent in playing different musical instruments,” Mendoza said.

Mendoza said interested youth should accomplish an application form, attaching  their birth certificate, 2x2 photo, a certificate of good moral character and a recommendation letter from his/her teacher, Punong Barangay or the city mayor.

Fernandez is focused on developing both sports and music programs  in a bid to showcase the talents and skills of young Dagupeños.

Fernandez added that this is in line with her program that will help nurture talents , provide the necessary training and instruments, and further hone the capabilities of the youth as musicians.

“When young children are consistently engaged in music in an age-appropriate and socially acceptable  environment, they benefit in many different  levels, such as reading notes, and quantitative, social, emotional, physical and creative skills,” Fernandez said.

The PhilHarmonic Orchestra will perform  here on April 16
for free together with the Balon Dagupan City Government Chorale. (CI0)
