435thAgew na Pangasinan revelry slated on April 10

Lingayen – The provincial government led by Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. invites Pangasinan folks, visitors from nearby provinces and tourists in the country to take part in the province’s 435th Agew na Pangasinan celebration on April 10, Friday at the Capitol Grounds here in Lingayen.
During the founding anniversary celebration, the province’s rich history, cultural heritage, wide array of products, local industries and tourist attractions -- all these, including the excellence and artistry of Pangasinan in various fields of expertise will again be showcased and recognized.
A Misa na Pisasalamat (Thanksgiving Mass) will be held at the Capitol plaza at 7:30AM which will serve as the opening salvo of Agew na Pangasinan celebrations.
It will be followed by the Programa Parad Agew na Pangasinan (Commemorative Program) at 8:45AM which will highlight the awarding rites for the winners of ‘Kurit Panlunggaring’ literary contests and the launching and presentation of Kurit Panlunggaring Anthology Book 1 and ‘Pinablin Dalin’ (Pangasinan History Book).
At 9:45AM, the Parada na Dayew: Float Parade and Competition will be capped by artistically-designed floats depicting the rich cultural heritage, tourist attractions and industries of municipal and city contingents as well as those from the national agencies, private sector and Non-Government Organizations.
The Float Parade along with the walking contingents and the Drum & Bugle Corps plus the Philippine Military Marching Band, will initially assemble at the Capitol grounds before traversing Lingayen’s  major streets (Artacho and Avenida West), and then winding up at Maramba Boulevard until reaching the Capitol Plaza. Afterwards the participating/competing floats will be stationed at the Capitol Beachfront for viewing and picture-taking.

Meanwhile, the ASNA Award-- which gives due recognition to outstanding Pangasinan achievers, whose selfless dedication in their profession or vocation has resulted to outstanding contributions for the welfare of fellow Pangasinan and for the country at large-- is scheduled at 7PM at the Sison Auditorium.

The ASNA Awards Night was launched on April 5, 2010 as one of the highlights of the 430thAgew na Pangasinan– the first founding anniversary celebration in the province.
ASNA award accords the highest recognition given to a Pangasinan who excels in his chosen field or profession and serves as a trail-blazer, a shining example of life while Balitok (a Pangasinan word for a precious golden metal) is a special ASNA award conferred to Pangasinan’s daughter and son,  whose significant contributions transcended the national and international arena and whose place in Pangasinan history has been embedded by the very nature of the scope of his or her achievement.
The commemoration of the province’s founding anniversary is annually celebrated on April 5. However, as this year’s Pangasinan Day coincided with Easter Sunday, the event was moved to April 10 to allow observance of the Lenten season in the province./Mark Gerry Oblanca
