LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Three newly passed Ordinances of Basista town have undergone review by the provincial lawmakers as required by law.
These ordinances are: Institutionalizing a drug-free workplace in the Local Government of Basista, Pangasinan and Appropriating Fund for the Implementation Thereof; Transferring Plantilla Position from One Office to Another in Some Offices of the Local Government Unit of Basista; and Prohibiting and Regulating the Use, Sale, and Distribution of Some of the Single Use Plastics in the Municipality of Basista, Pangasinan and Prescribing Penalties for Violation Thereof.
The review of the provincial board or Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) regarding the ordinances of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) is an obligation under the Local Government Code of 1991 to ensure they are legal and in accordance with the law. Within three days of approval, the SB Secretary shall submit the ordinances to the SP for review.
Key Details of the Review Process:
- Submission Process: Approved ordinances
and resolutions of the Sangguniang Bayan must be transmitted to the
Sangguniang Panlalawigan for evaluation.
- Obligation of the SP: It is the duty of
the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to review all ordinances and resolutions
enacted by the Sangguniang Bayan.
- Purpose: The review aims to ensure that local
ordinances are consistent with higher laws or existing regulations.
