DAGUPAN CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) on October 12 approved SP Resolution No. 7205-2016 authorizing Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo to take a holistic and integrated approach to address the multiple dimensions of poverty for the welfare of Dagupan families.
Authored by Councilor Jeslito C. Seen and sponsored by Nicanor D. Aquino, the resolution states that as the city attends to its problem regarding poverty, but it needs the help of the national government through the Office of the Vice President.
Seen said that through the Office of the Vice President, the city government can preserve the comfort and convenience of the families living here by prioritizing five areas that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, namely food security and nutrition, rural development, education, women empowerment and universal health care.
The Office of the Vice President seeks to convene partners and vulnerable communities, promote participatory mechanisms and capacitate local governments, and demonstrate how Local Government Units, private sector, non-government organizations, civil society organizations, and faith-based institutions can work together in various geographical settings, for a more responsive and transparent delivery of programs and services.
