BINALONAN, Pangasinan – Through the intercession of a young visionary newly elected congressman, this town and a huge portion of Pangasinan province will be benefiting by 10, 000 to 12,000 direct new jobs from a Japanese-Filipino consortium’s wiring system corporation.

“I am proud to announce that the first industrial park of Pangasinan is soon to rise in the Municipality of Binalonan. In connection, the Sumi North-Philippines Wiring Systems Corporation is currently hiring ten thousands to twelve thousands job vacancies. Huwag natin ito palampasin mga ka distrito,” Fifth District Rep. Ramon Guico, III stressed.

He said this became possible after his family sold 22 hectares of lands to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority’s sanctioned Sumitomo North Philippines  Wiring Systems Corporation (SNPWSC).

Piñol, Guico Cite Pluses To Unclog NCR

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato - Two vocal advocates of the  Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Program (BPBPP) cite its economic advantages of decongesting the cheek by jowl’s  12,877,253 population (2015 Census) of the National Capital Region (NCR) amid the specter of the dreaded Corona Virus Disease-19 (ConViD-19) pandemic.

Mindanao Development Authority Chief and Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol, whose office plays a major role to make the BPBPP possible, cited the multiplier effects of a government initiated project for the NCR residents in one of the seven designated provinces.

“The program will for example provide five hectares where housing and poultry production are located. The manure of the chicken will be intended for organic farming. Now, would the other people of the provinces benefit for these? If you create an economic activity there will be demand for raw materials. If you create a broiler production program you need corn, sorghum,” he told this writer at his farm in Kidapawan City.

 M’LANG, Cotabato – The pomelo in this agricultural land locked town is the tastiest among all the big citrus fruits in the country, an executive of the huge Sheba Pomelo Farm said.
Eleonor “Lotlot” Alba- Antonio said that in her countless of years as supervisor of planters of huge hectares of pomelo in the provinces of Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sarangani, and Davao, the sweet pinkish flesh fruit planted here is the tastiest.

“Aside from the combination of proper care, right fertilizers and pesticides the factor of its being the sweetest is the soil of this town,” Antonio told this writer in her 24 hectares of  the scientifically known citrus grandis' plantation in Barangay Buayan here.

She disclosed that Sheba Pomelo Farm has roughly three hundred of hectares of pomelo plantations all over Central Mindanao and Davao Provinces that sustain the unquenchable appetites for the big citrus fruits of the millions of consumers in the Visaya and Luzon Regions.

She cited that pomelo varies in classes.

“This one is Class A while this same size is Class B. When you weight them by your hand however the Class B is lighter,” she explained in Ilonggo the distinctions of the five pomelo fruits displayed at the table while countless of sacks of pomelos for delivery in Manila piled nearby.

“I am a follower of your Facebook Page. I always “liked” your posts,” a blond haired morena held my left elbow and told me in Ilonggo inside the fish market of my town.

“Sino gani kamo ? (Who are you by the way?)” I posed a question smiling.

“Si Susan Soriano Agustin of Bialong. Classmate ko sang highschool si Glory Ann Balajadia (I’m Susan Soriano of Bialong. Glory Ann Balajadia (a stunner-author) was a classmate in the secondary school),” She retorted.

She told me to buy fish at the section owned by her younger sister who became my school mate in my five years in high school at the Protestant College in the rustic town.

“She’s the partner of Dalay ( a successful  businesswoman who lived in Sitio Baluarte),” by referring to a mestiza looking woman, probably in her late 40s, named Marecon .

To Finally End False Testimonies: Lacson Bats for Swift Passage of Harsh Anti-Perjury Bill

To finally put an end to the practice of fake news and false testimonies meant to destroy people's reputations, Sen. Panfilo M. Lacson batted for the swift passage of a Senate bill providing heavier penalties against perjury.

Lacson - himself a victim of such false testimonies in the past - noted that while he had filed such a measure as early as 2011, it was left languishing in the legislative mill.

"It goes without saying that this measure will deter the commission of the crimes of false testimony and perjury in solemn affirmation and uphold the sacredness of oath in testimonies and sworn statements by increasing the penalty for their commission. It is for these reasons that I fully support the passage of this measure," he said in his co-sponsorship speech for Senate Bill 1354, which he co-authored with Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Senators Richard Gordon and Leila de Lima, at the Senate hybrid session Wednesday.

I was rubbing elbows recently with Muslim dominated Barangay Dunguan, M'lang Cotabato Chairman Patotin Sagadan and my classmate La Consolacion Kapitan John Rey Alingasa during the visit of beauteous Cotabato Province Governor Nancy Catamco at the M’lang town plaza.

I told the young and amiable Kapitan Sagadan when he would invite me to his village that I did not see since my parents, two siblings, and I migrated in the rustic town from our previous residency at the Philippine Military Academy in 1973 when my military father was assigned in Awang, Maguindanao.

“Anytime, you bring Kap John Rey!” Sagadan, whom I met with the 22 kapitans last year at the house of the sister of Antiquino dominated New Lawaan Barangay Chairman Wennie Jordan,Sr., in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan while they cool their heels there as we imbibed our quick quaffed of cold San Miguel Beer Lights and Fundador. They prepared then in trekking with their rented vans from Clark Airport in Pampanga the high altitude cool Baguio City for their Lakbay-Aral.

“Gusto ko magpa picture ng Barret at RPG-7 para maipagyabang ko sa mga taga Luzon,” I jested to Sagadan.
