 By Mortz C. Ortigoza

CALASIAO, Pangasinan – Two offices of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Pangasinan exceeded their tax goals given to them by the national government by collecting P7, 191, 668, 836.6.

Revenue District Office No. 4 Chief Aldrin A. Camba told Northern Watch Newspaper that he collected P4, 938, 419, 711.56 on top of the tax target of P4,773, 050, 000 while RDO No. 6 Chief Eden R. Serafica snared P2,253, 249, 125.13 on top of the tax goal of P2,174, 926, 000.

As of December 28, 2022 our tentative tax collection from January – December: P4, 938, 419, 711.56 as against our goal of P4,773, 050, 000 or excess of P163, 369, 711.56,” said by Camba whose office in Calasiao oversees two cities and fourteen towns in the province.

When Camba assumed office here in November 2, RDO No. 4 had a deficit of negative two percent for the January to October on actual collection against goal. The district office eclipsing this shortfall in the last two months was due to timing, luck, and more pressure to his staff, according to its chief. The strategy Camba initiated was by calling the attention of his assessment group.

“Pinatawagan ko top withholding agents iyong mga practitioners mga bookkeepers,” Camba explained the measures he implemented to overcome the deficit and converted it into surplus collection.

Serafica was grateful to the men and women of RDO No. 6 in Urdaneta City that supervises a city and fifteen towns in Pangasinan.

Collection goal January to December 28, 2022 P2,174, 926, 000. Collected January to December 28, 2022 P2,253, 249, 125.13. Collected year 2021 P1,882, 581, 268.98,” in a text messages she sent to this newspaper.

Serafica said credits on the laudable collection performances should be given to her predecessor RDO Chief Bernadette Mangaoang.

Serafica assumed her post in November 2 last year by replacing  Mangaoang.

Vinluan and Mangaoang have been assigned to La Trinidad, Benguet and Tabuk City, Kalinga Apayao, respectively.

Camba and Serafica's previous assignments were in Abra and Kalinga Apayao.

The BIR's projected revenue for the upcoming year is P2. 67 trillion, which is 11.61 percent more than its P2. 39 trillion collection target for 2022.

The national budget for this year of the Philippines government is P5.268 trillion where the collections of the BIR, Bureau of Customs, borrowings, and others fund it.
