DAGUPAN CITY LAUNCHES 70TH AGEW NA DAGUPAN



DAGUPAN CITY – Anchored on the theme: “Dagupan Pitoran Dekada La: Karuman, Natan, Nabuas”, the city launched its 70th Agew na Dagupan on May 11 with Mayor Belen T. Fernandez as honorary chair person and Schools Division Superintendent Froserfina J. Bravo as executive chair person.

Among the several activities prepared by the executive committee include "Dagupan Nen Saman, "Pituran Dekada na Dagupan", "Bandera na Bansa", "Sulat-Kansyon", "Kakanen" Trade Fair, Platinum "Laki/Bai", "Manlingkor ya Kalangweran", "Aninaw", ""Diya’d Dagupan", "Batik Ulupan", "Agew na Kawayangan", "Palyagan na Awaran", A"rte ed Dagupan" workshop, "Kasalan ed Hardin", "156th ya Inkianak nen Dr. Jose P. Rizal", "Parada na Dekada", "Kansyon na pankakasakey", "Pitumplon Taon ya Agew na Dagupan", Platinum Baby, "Pinablin Dagupeño", and Chess Summit.

"Dagupan Nen Saman" is a contest on the platinum memoirs of Dagupan for the last 70 years through the sharing of old pictures of Dagupan depicting an important event or happenings, including old city structures and important places and persons who have been part of the city’s rich culture and history.


Fernandez enjoined everyone to share their old pictures to the city, which will be featured in the city’s upcoming coffee table book. Deadline of submission of entries will be on 
June 5.

"Sulat-Kansyon", an open songwriting contest in English, Tagalog or Pangasinan language based on the platinum celebration of the city. Submission of compositions will be on 
May 30 at the city museum.

"Kakanen" Trade Fair will feature the city’s local products and delicacies, which have made Dagupan popular for the last 70 years.

Platinum "Laki/Bai" is a search for Dagupan born elders who were born on the date Dagupan was chartered as a city on June 20, 1947.

"Aninaw" will be a writing workshop on poetry for high school students on different genres to enhance their interest in literature and arts.

"Diad Dagupan" is a digital documentary or short film making contest about the best and most unique stories of the city for the last seven decades. Deadline for submission of entries will be on 
June 9 at 3:00 p.m.

"Batik Ulopan" will be a gathering of city folks from all walks of life for a unity run on 
June 10.

"Palyagan na Awaran", a quiz bee contest on the interesting and fascinating facts, characters and events about Dagupan and its people in its early years.

"Arte ed Dagupan" will be a visual and theater workshop for elementary pupils, which offers a wide range of improve exercises, games and acting activities that will boost the participant’s creativity and collaboration.

"Parada na Dekada" is a jubilee of people, music and floats in different decades on 
June 19, which will be followed by Kansyon na Pankakasakey after the parade.

Platinum Baby is a search for lucky babies who will be born on
 June 20, 2017 be it normal or ceasarian delivery.

Also part of the 70th celebration is the observance of the Agew na Kawayangan on 
June 12 and the 156th birthday of Dr. Jose P. Rizal on June 19.

A mass civil wedding for couples will also be held at the senior citizen’s park during the "Kasalan ed Hardin" on 
June 17.

The celebration will culminate with a Thanksgiving Mass on
 June 20 with a floral offering in front of the bust of Speaker Eugenio Perez at Herrero-Perez and a gala night for "Pinablin Dagupeño" at the city plaza honoring Dagupeños who have distinguished themselves in public service, business, humanities, the creative arts, or in the profession they practice or the avocation they follow.
