 By Mortz C. Ortigoza

BASISTA, Pangasinan – The young mayor here told his constituents that they should not be grateful to him but instead to the government for the food and the financial assistance they received after Super Typhoon Uwan scourged recently the landlocked town.

RELIEF STUFFS. Basista, Pangasinan Mayor Jolly ”J.R” Resuello sits on top of the "mountain" of sacks of relief goods composed of five kilos of rice and six noodles for each of the 14, 426 families affected by the scourge of Super Typhoon Uwan.

“Hindi niyo po kami dapat pasalamatan dahil Ito po ay hindi namin pera kundi pera ng taong bayan na dapat po lamang ang lahat ay mabahagian at makinabang. Trabaho po namin na kayo po ay paglingkuran, masuportahan, at matulungan sa mga panahon ng kalamidad,” Mayor Jolly “J.R” Resuello said on his Facebook Page.

Recall that on November 16 this year 14, 426 families here benefited on the food assistance from his office. He said all of those five kilos of rice and six packs of noodles per family became possible through the part of the thirty percent of the quick response fund for this year of the local government here. He lauded too the intercession of the municipal lawmakers and the assistance of the village officials to make all this food assistance possible.

“Sa pagkakataong hindi po nabigyan ng food assistance ay makipag ugnayan po lamang sa LGU Basista at barangay officials upang agad po namin ito maibahagi sa inyo,” he told his constituents who did not receive the relief goods.

His administration coordinated too with the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development to give financial assistance to those families here whose houses were wrought by the strong wind of Uwan.

Resuello exhorted his townmates that his administration will continue to assist and help them mitigate their hardship everytime a calamity hit them.
