Provincial board commends outstanding police officer


 
LINGAYEN – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Pangasinan has passed a resolution on a Pangasinense who was an  awardee of the 2016 Metrobank Foundation Search for the Country’s Outstanding Police Officers in Service (COPS).

Inspector Ryan Manongdo, the only awardee who hails from Northern Luzon, was conferred with a gold medallion, a trophy and cash prize amounting to P500, 000 from the Metrobank Foundation Inc. (MDFI), Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) and Rotary Club of New Manila East (RCNME).

The resolution, authored by Board Member Rosary Gracia Tababa, is in view of Manongdo’s sacrifice, dedication, diligence and wholehearted exemplary performance of bringing the Philippine National Police (PNP) closer to the community.

“It is but proper and just for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to confer a distinct recognition of his sincerity and greatness in the law enforcement profession,” said Tababa adding that Manongdo is unquestionably the pride and treasure of province and is worthy of emulation among all Pangasinenses.

The COPS, which honors the best policemen in the Philippines since 2002, is an award that hinges the principle of honoring and recognizing the excellent men and women of the police force in their fight against crime and lawlessness that are vital and relevant to the peace and order situation of the country.

Manongdo, who lives a simple life in his locality in Calasiao town, is the child of Pablo and Irene Manongdo who worked as jeepney driver and carinderia owner.

He was dubbed as “modern day hero” in 2009 when he risked his own life in saving other people in San Jacinto town during the onslaught of Typhoon “Pepeng.”

In 2014, he placed as second among the 88 senior police officials in the country who took the Police Executive Service Eligibility (PESE) examination administered by the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

Before he assumed his office in Asingan Municipal Police Station, where he is presently assigned as police chief, Manongdo launched several projects in Pozorrubio Municipal Police Station that became his passes to be awarded as PNP’s Junior Police Commissioned Officer in Police Community Relation and Most Outstanding Municipal Police Station for Police Community Relation on August 22.

Among the several community projects that Manongdo initiated in Pozorrubio town are as follows: Project Bando, Pulis Nino, Random Act of Kindness (RAKs), Sanib Pwersa, Rubio Cop, Papa Bear and Project Selfie.

Concurrently, Manongdo is also one of Region 1 Honor Award Program nominees for the 2016 Lingkod Bayan Award Category of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Likewise, Pozorrubio Municipal Police Station, where he was previously assigned as chief of police, has also received P40,000 worth of office equipment for the feat Manongdo has achieved.

The copy of the resolution will be given to Manongdo in the regular flag-raising ceremony of the provincial government on September 26 in Capitol Plaza in this town. (PIA-1, Pangasinan)
