LINGAYEN – The provincial government of Pangasinan is set to pilot here an environmental project that would collect waste materials in exchange for school supplies.
Gov. Amado Espino III said the provincial government is set to visit schools with a truckload of school supplies and personal hygiene materials in exchange for plastic bottles and other plastic materials which will be collected by the students.
Espino said this is one way to instill in the minds and in the everyday of life of students to dispose garbage properly, segregate the wastes and at the same time provide them with what they need for everyday living.
“Hindi ba maganda na ma-instill sa isip ng mga bata ang paglilinis at araw-araw ay maalala nila na alagaan ang kalikasan,” the governor said during the stakeholders meeting led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
He said it has been the drive of the province to care for the environment, thus the project on turning waste materials to something worthwhile.
“We would continue with programs that would care for the environment for the future of our children,” Espino said. (VHS/PIA-Pangasinan)
