Php1.6M-worth PEO component building soon to rise
Lingayen – A 1.6-million worth component building of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) will soon rise within the vicinity of the motor pool at the Capitol Complex, here, to house the office’s Materials Testing and Quality Control Division.
Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. was joined in by Provincial Engineer Victor Punay along with some department and office heads of the provincial government during the ground-breaking ceremonies for said building held on April 28 that was followed by the testimonial party and program for Engr. Punay’s retirement.
The main function of quality control division of PEO, Engr. Punay said, is on checking and testing of materials that are incorporated and those that will be incorporated to various infrastructure projects of the province.
With the construction of said building, the operations of the quality control division of PEO is expected to level up as personnel assigned will have a more conducive and spacious working environment to execute their tasks.
Other divisions of PEO include: Administrative, Plans and Programs, Motor pool, and Construction and Maintenance.
The building, according to Assistant Provincial Engineer Antonietta De Los Santos, shall also house a laboratory where various apparatus and equipment will be positioned for testing of materials.
Owing to the contribution of PEO for the development of various infrastructure projects of his administration, Governor Espino expressed gratitude to Engr. Punay for being an ‘efficient and effective chief of the PEO’ whom he described as ‘a simple, patient, workaholic and smooth supervisor and a loving family man.’
“People call me action man because the PEO has been swift in building bridges, roads and other infra projects in the projects. I owe that to the Engineering department,” Governor Espino stressed as he noted that 14 hospitals that are managed by the province underwent major rehabilitation works courtesy of the PEO.
In response, Engr. Punay expressed elation for the heart-warming testimonials he received from the Governor and from his fellow employees at the PEO. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa inyong lahat at natulungan nyo ako na ma-improve ang Provincial Engineering Office,” Punay said.
Towards the end, Governor Espino was assisted by Human Resource Management and Development Officer (HRMDO) Janette Asis, Engr. De Los Santos and other department and office heads in handing over a plaque of appreciation to Engr. Punay.
