SC should act on justices who received P50M bribe

DAGUPAN CITY – Senator Alan Peter Cayetano said the Supreme Court should investigate on the purportedly P50 million bribery that ensued between lawyer Pancho Villaraza and the justices of the Court of Appeals to stall the suspension of Makati Mayor Jejomar “Erwin” Binay Jr.

Villaraza is an ally of the father of the mayor Vice President Jejomar Binay.
“Ang importante  ay mag launch din ng witnesses at ebidensiya sa judiciary, para ang Supreme Court ma-aksiyonan ito para hindi po natin sabihin na walang corruption,” said by Cayetano who was for his Presyo, Trabaho, Kita/Kabuhayan (PTK) program here.
Recently Senator Antonio Trillanes said that the temporary restraining order (TRO) on the six months preventive suspension by the Ombudsman on the younger Binay  happened after  Villaraza gave P20 million each to Justices Jose Reyes Jr. and Francisco Acosta and additional  P5 million for each of them for the preliminary injunction.
Reyes and Acosta are members of the Sixth Division of the CA. The other member is Eduardo Peralta  who voted, too, for the injunction in favour of the mayor.
Last March 11, the Office of the Ombudsman preventively suspended Mayor Binay and 15 others for six months over the alleged overpricing in the construction of the Makati City Hall Building II.

Cayetano disclosed he is interested to see the evidences given by the informants to Trillanes.

The senator said he was not surprised that some justices in the judiciary are implicated in corruption because anomalies involving government officials in the executive, legislative, and judiciary have been exposed in the past.
“Talamak ang corruption, nakita ninyo naman iyong Napoles scam, di ba? Pork barrel scam! Sa judiciary hindi rin sila exempted. Ngayon ang question kasi ang whistle blower at iyong ebidensiya”.
He said the series of expose’ that happened before could be credited to the whistle blowers like Benhur Luy, Jun Lozadas, and others.
