Manay Gina plans to construct anti-flooding structure in Dagupan

DAGUPAN CITY – Fourth District Rep. Ma. Georgina de Venecia planned to establish an anti-flooding projects next year to end flooding in the city.
The plan is elevate by one meter the entire AB Fernandez Street, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.
This year alone, de Venecia has implemented projects in the fourth district worth millions of pesos.
The city is the primary beneficiary of the solon’s P200 million public works funds for upgrading of concrete roads and re-construction of drainage systems in six villages of this city.
Meanwhile, the perennial knee-deep water that haunts motorist who pass at the junction of the old De Venecia Highway that connects to Lingayen, Calasiao, and this city will be a thing of the past soon.
Eng. Rodolfo Dion, chief of the 2nd Engineering Office, said the DPWH has allocated P38 million for the elevation of the section that will start this November.
One lane of the highway is submerged in water during heavy rains..
The highway, according to Dion, was constructed in 1992 and was meant to mitigate traffic congestion in the main thoroughfares of this city.
The national government gave the fund for its construction through former Speaker Jose de Venecia in 1992 or two years after the Intensity 7.7 earthquake.
Dion said with the massive P200 million funds from Rep. de Venecia, 90 percent of the new road and drainage system in Brgy. Mayombo here has been accomplished.
He said the dreaded traffic bottlenecks infront of the Villaflor hospital and the perennial flood are things of the past now
