Spates of killings in Pangasinan: Not abetted by hired killers – Col. Ricaforte
LINGAYEN –Provincial Director Col. Rosueto Ricaforte, explained that not all the series of killings that ensued in Pangasinan were perpetrated by hired killers.
“According to our intelligence (reports) that most of the crimes are result of vengeance. These are common crimes that resulted to shooting incident,” he stressed.
He said that killers who ride in tandem on a motorcycle is a modus where everybody can buy a motorcycle for P5 thousand.
“Sakyan nila then babaril na sila (They use the motorcycle and shoot somebody). But these are not organized crimes. Ito ay resulta ng away-away ng mga ta-o (This is a result of quarrels),” he stressed.
He said that he consulted with his chiefs of police in a command conference the flaws that beset the operational procedure like in the police integrated patrol system.
“So if there are lapses there, we would like to plug the holes. Kung iko-correct namin ito mapag-igting natin ang ating crime prevention”.
Policemen all over Pangasinan are ubiquitous nowadays roaming public places by foot or in their patrol cars or manning check points as ordered recently by Ricaforte.
He said he is at his office 24 hours seven days a week cracking his head how to solve the ‘aberration” that haunted the province.
“Ako mismo tumatawag for compliance sa kanila kahit medaling araw. Tine-text and telepono ko ang officers in charged ng check points, officer on the ground. Tatawagan ko iyan, tapos iyong supervisors to see to it they are not remised doing their job”.
Although he could not explain the spates of killings as he is not a crime psychologist, he vigorously adheres to the police mantra: “If you want to prevent crimes we have to solve it” (Mortz C. Ortigoza).
