Laoac  launches  'Discipline Zone'  project

LAOAC – With an aim to make residents of the municipality of Laoac more self-restraint, a “Discipline Zone” project was launched by the local government here recently.
The zone located in Barangay Poblacion here, will strictly implement all the ordinances in the town for a more improved Laoac and more disciplined constituents.
According to Mayor Silverio Alarcio, the special zone will be an area of “standard disciplines.”
“Ito ay parang model area, minsan kasi ‘di natin binigbigyang diin ang ating mga ordinansa kaya nagiging balewala, so we wanted to bring back the discipline to the community na pagpasok mo dito sa discipline zone, you observe lahat ng standard disciplines,” he said during the blessing and inauguration of the newly constructed Laoac Municipal Police Station Building.
Alarcio added that with the declaration of the discipline zone, among the values the LGU wanted to inculcate among their residents include cleanliness, solid waste management, and self-discipline.
The official also shared his hopes that his people, through the project, will get used to the ordinances and make them as part of their daily routine even when they are within their respective barangays.
“We ask the community to support this program and observe our ordinances, including our students and business establishments,” he said.
He likewise explained that the project is not for the LGU alone but for all the people of Laoac.
Within the discipline zone, sellers are not allowed sell cigarettes to minors, motorcycle riders should restore their silencers otherwise their motorcycles will be impounded, tricycle drivers are prohibited to overload, smokers should smoke only at designated areas, and solid waste management will also be strictly enforced.
Laoac, a fourth-class municipality and is known for its tupig product, is also declared as “Drug Free Municipality” and has confirmed at least 186 drug surrenderers as graduates from drug rehabilitation implemented by the LGU.
