9 MORE BRGYS DECLARE DRUG FREE IN DAGUPAN

Nine more barangays in this city have been proclaimed as drug-cleared barangay in addition to the 12 barangays which has been declared earlier as drug-cleared barangays. These villages are Bacayao Sur, Bacayao Norte, Binloc, Caranglaan, Lucao, Tambac, Mayombo, Lasip Chico and Malued.
"I urged our barangay officials to work with us in implementing our Sagip-User Rehabilitation and Empowerment or SURE by convincing all drug surrenderers to join the program because I do believe that the very reason why they are into drugs is because of poverty, " stressed by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez at the City Museum.

Under the program, she said,  the city government will not just help in the rehabilitation and moral and spiritual formation of the narcotics users but will also train them under the different livelihood programs and eventually assist them in looking for a job.
“It is our objective to not just zero-out drugs in our city but also to give them a good and secured future,” she said.
The mayor lauded all the nine barangays officials who cooperated with the police under P/Supt. Neil O. Miro, this city’s chief of police.
“I hope that the remaining barangays will follow soon. We have already achieved 67 percent and I am hoping that by the end of the year we will be able to achieve our goal of at least 80 percent,” the mayor cited.
