KBP condemns shooting of Pangasinan radio man

DAGUPAN CITY – The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Pangasinan chapter condemned the shooting of a radio commentator here who was  on his way to work when the incident occurred.
KBP Chairman Noel Sibayan  said the officers and members of KBP hope that the perpetrators of radio commentator and newspaper columnist Virgilio Maganes will be caught the soonest.
“The KBP-Pangasinan condemns the shooting  of  our colleague. The perpetrators must face the court of law to give justice to another violence against a media practitioner,” Sibayan said.
Maganes survived     a gun attack at 5:40 am of Tuesday, November 8 in Villasis town. He was shot below the right armpit by motor-cycle riding gunmen  as he commuted to town in a tricycle.
The media man  said he heard at least four shots fired in the tricycle’s direction and one hit him. He said he brought himself to the hospital.
Maganes identified politics as the probable reason for the shooting incident. He said he has received death threats during the height of the recent  election season.
The Villasis police force are still conducting investigation as to the matter.
“Ok na ako.. safe.. I hope in due time, matukoy na ng mga pulis whoever is behind this,” Maganes told the Philippine Information Agency.
Maganes said he will go on leave from his radio anchoring stint at DWPR-Radyo Asenso in Dagupan City but will still continue with his writing job in the local newspaper Northern Watch. (VHS/PIA-Pangsinan)
