MBTF sworn in Victorio as Pugaro’s new Punong Barangay

DAGUPAN CITY-- First Kagawad Nestor Victorio of Barangay Pugaro is now the village’s new Punong Barangay following the resignation of Punong Barangay Ador Bancod for health reason. Victorio was sworn in by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez on September 28 at the city museum to succeed Bancod following the rule of succession upon the latter’s resignation. Bancod suffered a stroke in November last year and has been performing his duty as Punong Barangay at home and where barangay sessions are at times being held. But on September 23, Bancod filed his formal resignation before the office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) City Director Derick Dawis expressing his willingness to vacate his position in favor of the first kagawad so he could take a good rest to ensure his fast recovery. Victorio is a two-term Barangay Kagawad of Pugaro and is the son of a former Punong Barangay of the same village. Victorio will serve the unexpired term of Bancod until the next election of new barangay officials. The number seven slot for kagawad of Pugaro is still unfilled as the barangay council is yet to decide on who it will endorse to the position but whose appointment will be approved by the city mayor. Dawis said that since Congress has formally suspended the holding of barangay election this year, Victorio is expected to serve the position of Punong Barangay for about a year until the national government schedules the next barangay election.
