Dog Fun Walk set March 16 at Capitol Compound




Lingayen- - -In celebration of this year’s Rabies Awareness Celebration, which is held on the month of March, the Provincial Veterinary Office invites all dog owners to bring their pets and join the Dog Fun Walk to be held on March 16 at the Capitol Compound.
Dr. Eric Jose C. Perez, Provincial Veterinarian, said the activity, which is expected to register around 120 participants, primarily aims to promote responsible pet ownership among Pangasinenses.
Anchoring on the theme, “End Rabies, Now Na,” Perez said that anti-rabies vaccination has been a regular activity of the provincial government along with lectures that are undertaken by field personnel specifically in remote areas to further educate pet owners all over the province.
Perez disclosed that the activity, will take place at the Capitol Compound at exactly 7:30AM. Assembly area will be in front of the Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO). Participants will then walk up to the finish line which is at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC).
The mechanics of the activity are as follows:
·        All participating pets must be vaccinated and fit to join the fun walk
·        There will be four stations that will be installed in the areas wherein participants shall receive freebies upon arrival at the station
·        Pet owners are not allowed to carry/lift their dogs during the fun walk
·        Prizes will be at stake
Prizes will be given away for the following: 1) first to complete and arrive at the finish line, 2) best dressed pet, 3) longest bonding time with pet, 4) oldest pet, 5) youngest pet, 6) best breed.
