Nominations for ASNA Awards extended to March 16

Lingayen- - -Nominations to the Search for Most Outstanding Pangasinenses for 2016 ASNA Awards will be extended until March 16.

The announcement was made by the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) headed by Ma. Luisa A. Elduayan following the earlier deadline which was set by the office.

Elduayan said the extension date is intended to give more time for nominators to prepare the required requirements upon nomination.

"Asna""is the old name for "asin" (salt) from which the province of Pangasinan derived its name. The term "asna" alludes to a person's expert knowledge of his profession.

The ASNA Awards was launched on April 5, 2010 as one of the major events that highlighted the 430th Foundation Anniversary of Pangasinan.

The activity sought to give due recognition to outstanding Pangasinenses whose selfless dedication to their profession or vocation has resulted in outstanding contributions to the welfare of the people in Pangasinan and to the country.

It is given to Pangasinenses who excelled in the fields of government service, community service, arts and culture, medicine, agriculture and aquaculture, mass communications, business and entrepreneurship, law, education, science and technology and sports.

Aside from this, the ASNA Awards also seeks to give inspiration to others, especially the youth, as the achievements and leadership skills of the awardees may be emulated by them.

Another feature of the awards activity is the Balitok Award which is a special ASNA award given to Pangasinenses “whose significant contributions transcended the national and international arena and whose place in Pangasinan history has been embedded by the nature of the scope of their achievements.”
