Lim Admin blames on anemic tourism industry

DAGUPAN CITY – Because of parochial and vindictive politics practiced by the previous Benjie S. Lim administration, this city had been deprived of countless of millions of pesos of revenues and jobs brought supposedly by the tourism industry.
Former Dagupan City Mayor Benjie S. Lim, 3rd from left front row, and
son then Councilor Brian Lim (2nd from right) during their oath taking
as elected officials of the city in 2013
.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez cited that about three years ago her family wanted to invest for a world class hotel in Barangay Lucao but was undermined by the previous administration of former Mayor Lim.
The Lims and the Fernandezes are mall business competitors all over the province of Pangasinan.
“Three years ago, magpapatayo ako ng world class na hotel. Ano ang nangyari? Hinde ako binigyan ng permit! (Three years ago I and my family were geared to build a swanky world class hotel. But what happened? The Lim Administration did not give me the business permit to build it),” the mayor stressed to Northern Watch.
She said Philippine Councilors League (PCL) National Secretary General and this City Councilor Maybelyn Dela Cruz-Fernandez  and Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. Board of Director Romeo Rosario told  her that they could bring their national constituents but could not do it because of the absence of a respectable hotel  with more rooms to accommodate clients in a national magnitude.
“Sino pa ang mga presidents ng mga national organizations that should be coming in Dagupan but instead preferred Iloilo, Cebu, and other cities because our city could not accommodate their volume,” she cited.
Despite the absence of a mammoth hotel, this city has another draw which is the world class convention center Stadia at Brgy. Lucao.
The huge edifice was built by the family of Mayor Fernandez
