DAGUPAN CITY – More than 500 residents of Dagupan affected by typhoons "Mario" and "Luis" were listed as recipients of financial aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Project Development Officer Lorna Fernandez of the City Social Welfare and Development Office said that the city was able to solicit financial assistance from DSWD for those affected by the two typhoons through the effort and initiative of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.
Around 500 residents whose houses were partially damaged will receive P5,000 each while another 40 residents whose houses were totally damaged will receive P10,000 each.
“This may not be enough to help them recover their losses but at least this could help,” said Mayor Fernandez when she met the recipients on Wednesday at the People’s Astrodome.
Fernandez appealed to the would-be recipients to use the amount in refurbishing their houses before the next rainy season. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
