1st P'SINAN ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMIT SET OCTOBER 8


Lingayen – Preparations are in full-swing for the staging of the 1st Pangasinan Environmental Summit sponsored by the provincial administration in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on October 8, Thursday, at the Sison Auditorium, here.
About 1,500 stakeholders from various sectors are expected to participate in said activity which seeks to galvanize support for the protection and preservation of the environment, natural resources and bio-diversity.
The event to start at 8am will be led by Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., DENR Undersecretary Jonas Leones, DENR Regional Director Paquito Moreno, Jr.and DILG Regional Director Julie Daquioag.
Sectoral leaders will express their commitment to the environment to be culminated by the signing of all participants on the billboard containing the “Pangako ng Pagkakaisa Para sa Kalikasan.”
Participants will also be given the opportunity to widen their perspectives on environmental management through the following lectures: National Greening Program Situationer and Forest Fire Problem in Pangasinan (by Ms. Leduina Co, DENR – Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer); Solid Waste Management, Water and Air Quality Management (by Ms. Ma. Victoria Abrera, Director for Environment and Management Bureau of DENR – Region 1); Organic Agriculture (by Dalisay Moya, Officer-in-Charge Provincial Agriculturist); and Best Practices on Environmental Management (by Municipality of Villasis and Team Energy Sual Corporation).
Participants in said activity include: local government officials and department heads, barangay captains, sangguniang bayan committee chairs on environment, environment and natural resources officers, solid waste management officers, non-government organizations, representatives from the academe, sanitary inspectors, quarry operators who are permit holders, police officers, students, farmer groups and fisherfolk associations.
