Unaccredited broadcasters urged to take accreditation exam

DAGUPAN CITY -The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) urged unaccredited broadcasters in the province to take the accreditation exam aimed at raising the standards of professionalism in the broadcast industry.

Emmanuel Sibayan, chairman of KBP-Pangasinan chapter, said the examination is tentatively scheduled on the second week of September.

“Unaccredited broadcasters are not allowed to announce or comment on-air in KBP member-stations. They must be passers of the exam,” he said during the KBP Forum held at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Pangasinan office here on Thursday.

The examination makes up 50 percent of the accreditation process and an evaluation by the station manager accounts for the other 50 percent, Sibayan said.

The examination covers the KBP Broadcast Code and the Philippine Constitution, he said. (VHS/AMM/PIA-1, Pangasinan)
