“Hablang panakot ang depensa ng kurakot.”
This is how Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano describes the libel case that Vice President Jejomar Binay filed against him, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, and ten others, in relation to ongoing investigations on the alleged pattern of corruption in Makati involving the Binays.

Nevertheless, the senator said he welcomes the P200 Million damage suit filed against him and others. He said he sees the case as an opportunity to reiterate the findings of the Senate Blue Ribbon Subcommittee, which had been conducting an inquiry into corruption allegations against the Vice President and his family.
Cayetano remained firm that, based on the testimonies and documents that came out of the hearings, VP Binay stole from the people of Makati. He further noted that Binay chose to hide and even resorted to bullying his probers and those who testified against him.
“We have investigated this fairly – heard allegations, examined evidence carefully and gave VP every opportunity to present his counter-evidence. We are more than prepared to face this case and prove our findings. As for VP Binay, instead of pressing charges, he should just answer the evidence and testimony presented against him instead of hiding and bullying his accusers," Cayetano said. ###
