6 Busted in San Carlos for Drugs, VAWC

SAN CARLOS CITY – Five persons have been arrested here for violation of Dangerous Drugs Act, child abuse, and violence against women and children (VAWC).
THE SOFT SPOKEN SUPT. CHARLES UMAYAM, chief of police San Carlos City, Pangasinan,
conducted dialogue with college students  on the situation of the

 students there. He also discussed with them the laws concerning the
 students and their rights.
According to this city’s chief of police Superintendent Charles Umayam, his policemen arrested Kennedy Artem Lao, 26, Romelie Paguia, 22, Albert Granil, and Vanessa Barbera for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act), Jonathan Barboza, 27, for child abuse or RA 7610, Roderic dela Cruz, 39, here for Violence Against Women and Children or RA 9262.
Lao, a resident of Brgy. Palaris, and Paguia, a resident of Calamba, Laguna, were caught through a buy bust operation at Room 16 of Mendoza Travellers Hotel here.
“Recovered from Lao possession, control, and custody were three heat sealed transparent sachet containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), Ph. 20 and Php 500 buy bust money with Serial No. WV009612,” Umayam said.
He added that upon searching the bag of the duo, the cops found out another one heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, 10 heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu residues, one empty cigarette pack wrapped paper containing suspected dried marijuana leaf, and others.
Granil, 49, was caught in the act of selling one heat sealed plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance of suspected shabu while Barbera, 32, was arrested for possession of one heat sealed plastic sachet suspected shabu.

Other illegal items confiscated from them were three heat sealed transparent sachets to contain shabu.

Barboza, resident of Brgy. Coliling here, was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by this city’s Regional Trial Court Judge Renato D. Pinlac, while Dela Cruz, resident of Barangay Magtaking here, was apprehended through man hunt operation by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued and signed by Urdaneta City Regional Trial Court Elizabeth Bernal.
