SP invites PDEA to 'Question Hour

Lingayen- - -The provincial board will invite the Regional Director and the Pangasinan team leader of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to appear in a question hour on their regular session on June 23 to apprise the august body about the agency’s campaign against illegal drugs in the province.
Provincial Resolution No. 602-2014 authored by Board Member Alfonso Bince, Jr. states that peace and order is a vital and indispensable component in a certain community to attain economic progress and sustainable development.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution further stated,’ is in the process of assessing the current level of peace and order in the province and one of its growing concerns is the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province which is considered a menace of the society.’
In a report presented by PS/Supt.Sterling Raymund Blanco he stated that the aggressive PNP campaign against illegal drugs led to the arrest of 213 pushers and users and the seizure of shabu and marijuana from January to May this year.

It can be recalled that Gov. Amado T.  Espino, Jr. is one of the main authors of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, he has a moral obligation to lead in controlling the crime.
Under his term as the provincial chief executive, the provincial government has intensified its anti-illegal drugs campaign in which one of the effective stategies involves the youth led by the provincial scholars.
A manifesto of commitment was then signed to showcase the active involvement of the youth in the campaign.
“The youth must be made to internalize themselves with the ill-effects of the menace through a doctrinal movement,” the governor earlier stated as he added that guided by law his administration has set its sight to transform Pangasinan a dangerous drugs-free province in the future.
Drug operation, according to the provincial chief executive is a continuing process thus intensification of the campaign is a must that will be made more effective through prevention of the use of the illegal substance and the apprehension as well as prosecution of persons behind the illegal drugs trade.
The question hour will allow the law enforcers to present not only reports but their plan to aggressively address the social menace. /RRB
