BM “Pogi” Espino warmly-welcomed in his first SP session

Lingayen — “Asahan nyo ang suporta ng opisina ng Liga ng Mga Barangay sa ikalalakas at ikatatatag ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) at sa ika-uunlad ng probinsya ng Pangasinan.”
This was candidly assured by Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III, newly-elected President of the Barangay Captains Federation of Pangasinan, during the opening of SP session for 2014 held January 6.
As Liga President, Espino III sits in the 15-member provincial legislative body.
“Being a part of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, it’s both a privilege and an honor,” the newly-installed Board Member said as he expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome accorded to him by his colleagues.
Espino bared three priorities that the provincial Liga is set to accomplish for the betterment of barangays. These included: instituting accountability of resources in barangays; giving of due recognition for the barangay captains who serve executive, legislative and judiciary functions; and bracing up support and rapport for the on-going programs of the provincial government.
The young Espino, son of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., succeeded his uncle, former Board Member Amadeo T. Espino, who now serves as Mayor of Bautista town. He chairs the SP’s committees on barangay development and public safety.

The Board Member also recounted his first visit to the SP a year ago when he defended a budget during his incumbency as chief executive of Bautista town.
Espino, whose political slate was unopposed in the provincial election held December 18 last year, received the certificate of confirmation of his present position on December 23 as approved by Ricojudge Janvier M. Echiverri, President and Presiding Officer of the National Liga Board.
Completing the new set of Liga ng mga Barangay Chapter officers for 2013-2016 are: Jeanne Jinky C. Saplan, wife of Mayor Carlito Saplan of Sta. Barbara – Vice President; Leoncio V. Saldivar, Jr. of San Nicolas – Auditor; Carolina M. Abad (Bolinao), Salvador C. Camba (Alaminos City), Allan Roy Q. Macanlalay (Calasiao), Hercules P. Magliba (San Fabian), Jose DG. Peralta, Jr. (Bugallon), Michael Bryan M. Perez (Urdaneta City), Jessie T. Punzal (Mangatarem) and Ramon D. Sison (Aguilar) – Directors of the Board.
Espino also ran unopposed as captain in barangay Poblacion East in Bautista after he served for three terms as Mayor from 2004-2013.
