Lim has no hand to GM Reyna’s suspension

Water Boss Ramon Reyna

DAGUPAN CITY – Mayor Benjamin S. Lim belies reports linking him to Dagupan City Water District’s (DCWD) General Manager Ramon Reyna’s suspension. “[Reyna’s] suspension was an independent discretion of the DCWD’s board of directors. I have nothing to do with it,” Lim stated. According to media reports, Reyna earned a preventive suspension from the water district’s board of directors when he had failed to explain the allegedly P5 million-worth missing Local Water Utilities Administration materials based on an audit report released by Commission of Audit September last year.
The mayor insisted that he has no executory powers to defer Reyna from continuing his watch over the quasi-government entity local water district and that only members of the board could issue such suspension. “What I could only do is to appoint the DCWD’s directors with four-year term each based on the recommendations of local sectors,” he clarified. DCWD’s current board of directors is formed by: Reveriana Guadiz, women sector; Antonio Uy, civic sector; Engr. Robert Matias, business sector; Rudy Ramos, professional sector; Lilian Asprer, LWUA representative; with MacArthur Samson of the education sector as the chairman.
His viewpoints on the issue: Reyna should answer the issue forthrightly and that the board of directors look deeper into the matter. Lim also dispelled any involvement in the looming issues of the privatization of the city’s water supplier. (CIO-RMCLaguerta)
